P0956 Civil Code section 3289, which provides for a rate of 10% in computing pre-judgment interest in contract actions, applies to actions for compensation mandated by the Labor Code to an employee who was denied a required rest or meal break, including actions that accrued prior to the effective date of Labor Code section 218.6, which specifically calls for application of the Civil Code section to such actions.
