P0999 Evidence Code provisions limiting the amount medical providers may charge when fulfilling requests by patients or their attorneys for medical records apply to contractors who have agreed to assume the duty of responding on behalf of health care providers to requests for records and who are acting for their own advantage as well that of the health care providers, and such contractors may be liable for violating the statutory limits.
