P1002 Upon entering a precertification order requiring the attorney for a putative class to withdraw as class representative, the court may issue an order directing that defendant provide a third party with the names and addresses of a limited number of potential class members so the third party can notify them of the commencement of the class action, describe the general nature of the claims asserted, and solicit a new class representative, so long as the notice informs recipients they are free to ignore it and that the sender will not disclose their identities to the class attorney, who must not be identified in a way that would facilitate direct contact by recipients of the notice.
